Hair microneedling is a scalp treatment that uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the scalp. This stimulates local growth factors and blood flow and, importantly, improves how well applied treatments such as minoxidil or PRP penetrate – which is why it is usually combined with them rather than used alone.
At ACTYMED it is used mainly for early to moderate pattern hair thinning (androgenetic alopecia) and general thinning, as part of a combined plan. It is offered after assessment, with honest advice on what to expect and how it fits alongside medical hair treatments.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is it performed?
After cleansing, and with comfort measures as needed, a microneedling device is passed over the thinning areas of the scalp at a set depth, often followed by application of minoxidil, PRP or a growth serum. Mild redness for a day is normal.
Which conditions does it help?
Early to moderate androgenetic alopecia (pattern thinning) and diffuse thinning, especially when combined with medical treatment.
How many sessions are needed?
A course spaced a few weeks apart, then maintenance; hair responds slowly, so results build over months.
Who should avoid it?
Active scalp infection or dermatitis, a keloid tendency, bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication, and unstable or scarring types of hair loss, which need different treatment.
Is there evidence for it?
Yes – microneedling combined with minoxidil has shown better regrowth than minoxidil alone in studies of pattern hair loss, so we use it as an add-on within a proper plan, not as a stand-alone cure.
