Prenatal Care Program (Garbhini Paricharya)

Duration: Trimester-wise programme, scheduled visits · Panchakarma, Ayurvedic Sports Medicine

Overview

Garbhini Paricharya is Ayurveda’s classical month-by-month framework for supporting a healthy pregnancy — covering diet that evolves with each trimester, daily routine, gentle supportive therapies, emotional wellbeing and preparation for delivery. Kerala’s tradition of pregnancy and postpartum care is among the most detailed and continuously practised in the world.

One thing before anything else: this programme complements obstetric care — it never replaces it. Every ACTYMED prenatal plan runs alongside your obstetrician’s scans, screening and medical management, and our doctors coordinate rather than compete with that care. Within that frame, we offer trimester-wise nutrition guidance adapted to your constitution and local foods, safe gentle therapies (selected oil applications and relaxation care — with pregnancy-contraindicated therapies strictly excluded), back and pelvic comfort strategies, sleep and stress support, and preparation of the body for delivery and recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ayurvedic treatment safe during pregnancy?

Selected, pregnancy-appropriate care is — and a significant part of our expertise is knowing what to exclude. Strong massage over the abdomen and lower back, sudation (heat) therapies, purgation and most internal medicines are avoided. Everything offered is chosen for pregnancy specifically and disclosed to your obstetrician on request.

What does the diet guidance involve?

Month-wise, practical Kerala-friendly guidance: adequate protein and micronutrient-dense foods, digestion-friendly preparations for nausea phases, and healthy weight-gain pacing — aligned with standard antenatal nutrition advice, personalised by constitution.

Can it help with back pain and swelling in pregnancy?

Yes — pregnancy-safe positioning, gentle exercises, supportive therapies and footwear/rest strategies for the common musculoskeletal complaints of pregnancy are a core part of the programme, delivered by a team that manages back pain daily.

When should I start?

Any trimester is welcome; earlier allows fuller trimester-wise pacing. Book alongside your regular antenatal schedule.

What is strictly avoided?

Abdominal and deep low-back massage, heat/sudation therapies, Virechana and other elimination procedures, unvetted herbal preparations, and anything your obstetrician flags. When in doubt, we leave it out.
