About Dr. Ajeesh T Alex
Dr. Ajeesh T. Alex is an Ayurvedic practitioner, sports injury consultant, and sports nutrition professional with a focused clinical career in the care of athletes, musculoskeletal injuries, orthopaedic rehabilitation, and pain management.
He began his professional career in 2013 as a Medical Officer at the Sports Ayurveda Research Cell, Thodupuzha, a unit under the Indian Systems of Medicine Department, Government of Kerala. This centre was established with the objective of supporting Indian athletes through Ayurveda-based sports medicine care. His early clinical exposure in this setting helped him develop a strong interest in sports injuries, athlete recovery, rehabilitation, and performance-focused healthcare.
In 2015, Dr. Ajeesh founded ACTYMED Healthcare with the vision of creating a dedicated centre for orthopaedic care, sports injury management, rehabilitation, and sports nutrition. Over the years, ACTYMED has evolved into a clinical platform that combines Ayurveda, rehabilitation science, manual therapy, exercise-based recovery, and practical sports nutrition.
Dr. Ajeesh has treated more than 20 Olympians and over 5,000 national and international athletes across different sports disciplines. His clinical experience includes the management of soft tissue injuries, joint pain, spine-related pain, overuse injuries, postural dysfunctions, mobility restrictions, and performance-related recovery issues.
In 2022, Dr. Ajeesh graduated from the International Olympic Committee’s sports nutrition programme. He is recognised as the first Ayurvedic doctor and the first Malayalee doctor to graduate from the International Olympic Committee in this field. This milestone strengthened his integrated approach to athlete care, where injury management, rehabilitation, nutrition, hydration, training load, recovery, and long-term performance are considered together.
His treatment approach is patient-specific and condition-specific. Depending on the individual requirement, care may include Ayurvedic treatment principles, dry needling, cupping therapy, kinesiology or functional taping, manual therapy, exercise prescription, yoga-based rehabilitation, lifestyle correction, and sports nutrition guidance.
Dr. Ajeesh believes that pain management should not end with temporary relief. His clinical focus is to understand the root cause of pain or injury, identify contributing mechanical or lifestyle factors, restore function, and help the patient or athlete return safely to daily activity, work, or sport.
Through ACTYMED Healthcare, Dr. Ajeesh continues to work with athletes, active individuals, working professionals, and patients with chronic pain or orthopaedic conditions. His practice reflects a practical, evidence-informed, and holistic approach that brings together the strengths of Ayurveda, rehabilitation, and sports science.
