About Physiotherapy and Rehab
Actymed’s Physiotherapy & Sports Rehabilitation department delivers structured, progressive rehabilitation that turns a diagnosis into a full recovery. It works hand-in-hand with our orthopaedic, sports medicine and dry needling services – because treating an injury accurately is only half the job; rebuilding strength, mobility and control is what returns you to normal life or sport and keeps the problem from coming back.
Whether you are recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, or working to return safely to competition, our physiotherapy team builds a plan around your specific goals, movement patterns and stage of healing – and progresses it as you improve. These services are available at all three Actymed clinics.
Why Rehabilitation Matters
Most re-injuries happen because rehabilitation was stopped too early or was never properly structured – pain settling is not the same as being ready. Our programmes take you the whole way: from protecting a fresh injury, through restoring strength and control, to a confident return to activity, guided by objective checkpoints rather than guesswork.
What We Offer
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
Structured recovery after procedures such as ACL reconstruction, shoulder surgery and fracture fixation – restoring full function safely and in the right sequence.
Sports Rehabilitation & Return-to-Play
Progressive, sport-specific rehabilitation with objective return-to-play criteria – strength testing, functional movement assessment and readiness – so athletes return at the right time, in the right condition.
Chronic Pain & Postural Rehabilitation
Exercise-based management of long-standing back, neck and joint pain, and of posture- and workplace-related problems, aimed at lasting relief rather than temporary fixes.
Movement Assessment & Injury Prevention
Screening of movement and biomechanics to correct the faulty patterns that cause overuse injuries – keeping active people and athletes healthy.
An Integrated Approach
Physiotherapy at Actymed is never delivered in isolation. It is coordinated with Dr. Ajeesh’s diagnosis and, where helpful, combined with Ayurveda therapies, dry needling and manual therapy – so every part of your recovery pulls in the same direction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a doctor’s referral for physiotherapy?
No referral is required, though physiotherapy is often recommended as part of a broader treatment plan following a consultation with Dr. Ajeesh.
Is physiotherapy available at every Actymed clinic?
Yes – physiotherapy and sports rehab services are available at Thodupuzha (24 hours), Perumbavoor (Mon to Sat, 9 AM to 5 PM) and Kottarakkara (every Monday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM).
How long will my rehabilitation take?
It depends on the injury and your goals – acute problems often settle within a few weeks, while post-surgical and chronic cases follow a longer, staged programme. You will be given a realistic timeline at the outset.
Can physiotherapy help me avoid surgery?
Very often, yes. For many musculoskeletal conditions a well-structured rehabilitation programme restores full function without surgery – and where surgery is genuinely needed, good pre- and post-operative rehab improves the result.
